Spring 2025 Anime Preview

β€’ Andrew & Jordan

Brace yourselves for an epic anime season as Spring 2025 delivers a powerhouse lineup that has fans counting down the days. We kick things off with the breaking news that Solo Leveling has shattered streaming records on Crunchyroll, surpassing both Demon Slayer and One Piece with its jaw-dropping latest episode featuring Beru. While celebrating this milestone, we can't help but discuss the surprisingly divisive reaction to the protagonist's emotional reunion with his mother – a moment that's been building since episode one.

Our comprehensive preview covers everything from returning favorites to promising newcomers. Fire Force ignites its final season, continuing Shinra's journey against the White Cloud in a two-part conclusion. The Beginning After the End makes its highly anticipated debut, promising the strengths of Jobless Reincarnation without its controversial elements – though we share some honest concerns about the animation quality based on early trailers.

The most electrifying announcement might be Devil May Cry's adaptation, finally arriving seven years after its initial announcement. With the Castlevania animation studio at the helm and Ichigo's voice actor leading the charge, this adaptation promises to capture the stylish combat and cocky attitude that made the games legendary. We also explore Wind Breaker's second season, Black Butler's return with the Emerald Witch arc, and My Hero Academia: Vigilantes – a prequel focusing on a character who turns his modest "Slide and Glide" ability into something extraordinary.

Whether you're drawn to original series like Lazarus with its John Wick-inspired action sequences, or feeling nostalgic for the 20th-anniversary remastering of Yu-Gi-Oh, this season has something for every anime enthusiast. Join us as we break down why these upcoming releases deserve a spot on your watchlist and share which anime worlds we'd choose to live in if given the chance.

Follow Realm Jumpers wherever you get your podcasts, and let us know which Spring 2025 anime has you most excited!

Speaker 1:

Welcome to Realm Jumpers. I'm Andrew and this is my co-host, jordan.

Speaker 2:

Hey everyone. We're here to dive into the worlds of fantasy and anime, bringing you epic stories and unforgettable adventures.

Speaker 1:

We'll be talking world building, unforgettable villains and everything that makes these genres legendary. So let's jump into the Realm and everything that makes these genres legendary. So let's jump into the Realm. Welcome back to Realm Jumpers. Spring 2025 is stacked with must-watch anime, from the return of Fire Force and Black Butler to the big debut of the Beginning After the End. We're breaking down the biggest fantasy and isekai hits you won't want to miss. But first let's dive into some Realm rumors and see what's making waves in anime. What do you got for me, jordan?

Speaker 2:

All right brother. So and see what's uh making waves in anime. What do you got for me? Jordan. All right, brother. So big news soul leveling breaks a new anime streaming record with their uh, their last episode. Not another surprise, right? No surprise, with uh, big man biru showing up playing and playing with the s right yeah, or beating the beating the hell out of them.

Speaker 2:

I I should say Barry looked pretty good. Yeah, he looked awesome. So he definitely gave which I hope you got to this yet in Hunter x Hunter with the Ant King guy, very similar vibes. I don't know if you made it there yet, but they're very similar.

Speaker 1:

Encouraging on that right now?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you'll see. But yeah, boasting 4.9 star average and over 610 000 user ratings of um, that episode actually overtook one piece and demon slayer um for the most rated title title on crunchyroll, which is wild, demon slayer held on to that for a minute. One piece did as well, um, but the episode was really cool, so I'm not really surprised. I don't know, I bet next week might end up breaking this record again. No, I'm not really surprised. I don't know. I bet next week might end up breaking this record?

Speaker 1:

No, I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised that it broke a record. What I am surprised about is what is it? Two weeks ago when he saved his mom and everybody shed on that episode, Like bro, because he had emotion. He had emotion. Like, come on, he's been trying to do the whole show Like yeah, that's been his number one goal from the beginning, you know, to take care of his family. I don't know dude anime fans, sometimes man um they're just weird.

Speaker 2:

Although I didn't really like him crying, you know like that was, he finally had some emotion. Yeah from, he didn't have emotion since the first season, right, so it was nice to.

Speaker 1:

Oh, he still is human yeah, yeah, exactly they, I don't know. I enjoyed both of the episodes.

Speaker 2:

The whole season been great same. I'm excited for this next one man, this is gonna be, uh, probably epic right yeah, so we got what two episodes left right. So yeah, we have so you got the other realm rumor or what. There's another one right, but uh, we have two episodes left right oh yeah, two episodes of solo leveling and, uh, I'm sure it's gonna end on a banger. I have an idea of probably where it's gonna end, but let's see if it happens yeah I, it'll be good regardless, um.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, I will handle this other rumor. I don't know if it's we'll call it a full circle on this or maybe just kind of, you know, wrapping it up. But so there is a petition out, um, there's a petition out to get sony to fire the ceo of crunchy this is based on that other stuff.

Speaker 2:

Right, it's based on before yeah, all the other stuff.

Speaker 1:

So all of the other stuff, plus everybody's gripes in general, and this is where I have to step away from the pack and just say listen up, ding dongs, you had an opportunity. You had an opportunity here to actually write a solid petition, uh. But instead we lean back on insults and just generalization, on stuff like come on, do better guys. Anime community as a whole we got to do better, because, I agree, it's just like ding ding, ding.

Speaker 1:

That right needs to be replaced but if you're going to do the petition, do it right and don't make it look like a 17 year old wrote it, not even 17 year old. Don't make it look like a 13 year old it. And it's funny because if you go, you know, dive into the reddit threads, that's literally the first thing everybody starts saying this petition is horrible, it's barely legible, and they just get into you know the juvenile insults, which is I mean that's, they couldn't have like ai write it and make it look good.

Speaker 1:

No, like, yeah, right, anything. Chat gbt could have done a real good job with that. Um, like just and here's the thing, fire off, write your rant, right, like, take what you already wrote and then put that into chat gbt and say hey, clean this, clean this up and make it look professional.

Speaker 2:

You know it's that easy, that's terrible and you know it'll, it'll. Nothing will happen now because it was so juvenile, they're just going to ignore it.

Speaker 1:

I mean, that would be my guess If I was the CEO or if I was the head of Sony? You know, board of directors, whatever. Um, you know board of directors, whatever. Um, yeah, if I'm in charge over at sony, I'm gonna look at that petition and I'm gonna go like my son wrote this. This is like the complaint list when you don't get what you want for christmas. So no, I, I don't care. Well, good job guys. It's a lost opportunity basically awesome job.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there was some real stuff you could have went with, but okay, right, thanks. Next. Yeah, so that's well, man, this is gonna be a fun episode.

Speaker 1:

We got some some fire bangers coming out this, this dude, honestly, yeah, let's dive into this, because I think we got quite a bit to talk about. Um, obviously we're not going to cover every single new show that's coming out in the spring sea, because that would be exhaustive and probably a four hour three episodes yeah, um, it'd be a four hour, which I'm not into. Like I I respect the shows that are doing that, you know um, but that's not like I don't know. That's not where I'm at, I'm not gonna watch everything.

Speaker 2:

It's not your thing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm not gonna watch everything comes out, so that's not what we'll talk about the stuff, stuff that like it's going to be good, or we hope, yeah, that looks.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it looks fun. So I'll start with good old season two of Windbreaker coming out, which I am so excited for. Man, I love the first season of Windbreaker.

Speaker 1:

I'm just getting into it and, honestly, like I'm ready for it. I had concerns in the first episode, but I'm ready for it. What do we got?

Speaker 2:

Because in the first episode. But I'm ready for it. What do uh, what do? What do we got? Because, yeah, so you know the main kid, uh, sakura, you know, with the with the dual color, the hair and eyes and and all that that.

Speaker 2:

When I first started, uh, watching windbreaker, it was giving me the same vibes as tokyo revengers, okay, which I don't know if you've ever seen that bits, um, but that has like a time travel element that's really interesting and this whole delinquent gang's fighting angle. But as much as I like the time travel part of that show, windbreaker is just, I just enjoy it more. The action is more fluid and more just like martial arts style or brutal maybe would be the words. It is going to be, I believe, animated by the original studio from the first season. So that's always good. We won't have a drop in quality as far as that goes. Um, it looks like it's gonna be following, uh, the main group, the boyfriend group here, against an organization called keel k-e-e-l. Um, I did not read the manga because I'm trying not to read as much of those these days. I'm trying to get into books. By the way, I started missborne, that's just saying where you should be.

Speaker 1:

Congratulations, I know you're very happy about that.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, they're gonna be facing off against this kill organization. The cool thing about them is they're a brutal gang. They have white jackets, they use weapons and they do mob tactics like extortion, that kind of stuff. So you know, once you finish up season one, you'll kind of see how that plays out. Which great season, great ending to that.

Speaker 2:

This looks like it's going to kind of escalate things to be looks like more violent, more brutal, maybe have some higher stakes in this in this new season. They think it looks like it's probably going to be about three to four chapters per episode, which is pretty normal, which is, you know, that's kind of how that goes when they adapt stuff like this and they're assuming the same thing about 13 episodes or so, 12 or something like that. So it's going to be intense man Street battles. You know how emotional it gets in that. The brotherhood, the loyalty angle, I'm sure all that will be there, but I'm hoping it's maybe a little bit more higher stakes this season than the first season. Just, you know, let's see what happens when these kids really start getting into it.

Speaker 1:

So I have notes. I have notes, so I was concerned. You know, keep in mind I'm only on like episode three or four.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So immediately and you know know, this was like the immediate thought I was like, oh, the heterochromia thing. I was like we're gonna find out that this is like, he's like lucifer's son. So you know, immediately I was picking up, I was like, uh, is this gonna be like another blue exorcist type of thing where he's just like some violent little delinquent? And then you know, five minutes later I'm like okay, I'm worried now that he might just be given off naruto vibes, where it's like, but you know, boasting to be the strongest, like I'm gonna be the top, I'm the best engine, I'm gonna be right, but you're yeah, you're really not at the beginning, naruto was not the strongest fighter, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1:

he was no average, um. So, and then we get a little bit further in and I'm like, okay, I like this mix, let's go with it. You know, the fights were great, the animation was clean, um, by the way, that shop girl and I don't remember her name, the girl that was in the shop, yeah, yeah, I swear to god, that's momo, is it? No, just look at her. Go back and look at the art.

Speaker 2:

Yeah look at the animation.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I can see that's that's momo, from dan to dan, like I, I don't know. Yeah, that's who she looks like older, a little older yeah, sure, but I think she is it's like was that drunk? Was that the same artist? Did they copy this yeah?

Speaker 2:

no. So have you got to the, to the king of that gang yet of their gang? Have you met him yet? Um, I think so. Yeah, he's super, not what you're assuming for to be the strongest quote fighter. Yeah you, you'll see, you'll like it. Actually, the ending is really good. No, I'm enjoying it. So far the animation is clean.

Speaker 1:

It's a fresh take on, like I mean, obviously you know we do mostly a lot of fantasy and magic stuff related here on this podcast, but I don't know, it's fresh take, man, like to like street level, yeah, to watch something with absolutely no magic whatsoever. It's kind of refreshing. I don't know. It's just yeah, just uh, fists and feet kicking, yeah, I mean, this is the whole reason why we started watching kung fu movies when we. It's just pure action, you know what I mean, and not like solo leveling, like power fantasy action, just just down and dirty street fights. And that's so cool, man, I love, I love it Like it's great.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you'll love that and it's got your favorite. No, not a huge spoiler. There's a little tournament type thing in it, so you're going to love that. I know you are with that. It'll be great.

Speaker 1:

I can't wait. So what do we got next after this one? So we got the beginning after the end, or if, if you're so inclined to call it t-bait, yeah, honestly, this, the t-bait, should be an, it should be an easy win. Um, it's got all of the. You know the strengths of jobless reincarnation, without all of the uncomfortableness of everything that dude throws into his writing. Uh, you know, we'll leave that there, not gonna say much more on that, but it it's a perfect choice for an anime adaptation. And on top of that, it started out as a, a web comic, which, again, you know we've talked about this in the past solo leveling. It kind of paves the way for this stuff and I agree and I think this was a good choice to follow up. But I am super concerned with the studio and the trailer that I've seen. The animation looks janky, dude, it looks bad not as clean as uh.

Speaker 2:

So is that? Wait, how's I so? I I'm a manwa psycho. I've never read this one, though, so it's on that list and I want to do it. Is the art matching in the comic, or or no?

Speaker 1:

I I mean, yeah, sure it's close, but like I, I read, of course, uh, of course I read the novels, right. So I'm not as concerned with whether or not it faithfully matches the drawings in the web comic, because I I haven't seen a ton of those. But yeah, from what I can tell it, it does look similar enough. Okay, this isn't bad, but I, I don't know man, the the trailer. Trailer was not good. Trailer was not good.

Speaker 2:

Well, now I'm concerned. The scary part is, if your trailer is not good, man, that's what you're supposed to be like drumming up on the hype.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, the trailer is supposed to be the thing where you're putting forth, like the best of the best right, like that's going to be your best drawn shit. That's your like the other. You know the matter. Yeah, that's all I can say about that. It's bad. I still have high hopes for it, just because I really enjoyed the story, you know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, is it?

Speaker 1:

Is it a? Is it another isekai kind of power leveling fantasy? Yeah, sure, he's not as like OP as Jimu, but it's. It's got decent world building. I, like you, know the story that they're telling and so, yeah, I've got high hopes for it and, let's face it, I'm gonna watch it anyways, but I'm gonna be pissed off. It's like janky every week. Yeah, dude, I'm gonna be so mad, I'm gonna be irritated, and we'll talk about it for 15 episodes, so for the next six.

Speaker 2:

Well, I never read it, so I'm a fresh viewer. We'll see. I guess we'll see how I feel on it. Maybe we'll have different opinions because I'm not comparing it. Maybe that'll help. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

There's always that chance that the studio pulls off a miracle and it looks great. But you know, studio ACAT doesn't really have any bangers out there no-transcript.

Speaker 2:

They couldn't, they just couldn't. They couldn't handle it, man. Unfortunately yeah.

Speaker 1:

So I mean, final thought, I think it's still worth checking out. Um, I'm gonna watch it regardless. Uh, and just, you know, hoping and praying that they, they, may make it look better than what I saw on that trip okay, well, I mean, I guess we're gonna find out.

Speaker 2:

I'll. I'll take the next one. Some fire force action, yeah, coming out. So it looks like it's season three and it's gonna be the final season of the anime. I did watch season one and two. Um, I don't remember two as much as I think it's been a few years since it came out. I'm having a hard time remembering the full season. But I know this one's going to be released in two hours or parts. So what do they do? Like 12, 13 episodes each. Usually they like to spread that out, but it's going to kind of pick up at the end of season two with Shinra unlocking a new level of power and company eight kind of preparing for the larger conflict with the white cloud and the evangelist. So it should be probably pretty good. Um, fire force is a.

Speaker 2:

I have a weird relationship with this show because I love fire powered characters. I mean they're my favorite in most. I love him and you know the whole thing about Firepower character is cool, the different versions of that. And I do like Shinra. I mean he's pretty cool. But it's a strange show. It doesn't. I feel like it has the things that it should be grabbing me and it never really has. Although I have watched it, enjoying the action scenes in the fights, it just doesn't have to me. It's not hitting the emotional thing that really bind me to the story and be locked in type stuff. It's more just like, okay, it's cool, let's just watch it for the fights and that's could be a me thing, I don't know. I mean, people probably love it.

Speaker 1:

So I have issues. I, I have issues. Yeah, I have issues. Uh, I'm only. You know several episodes in um yeah, you just started season one.

Speaker 1:

I did right, I did, and honestly, if it weren't for the fact that I need to kind of catch up on the story and see what's happening, I probably would quit art because I thought the biggest issue was going to be. Let me back that up. So you know, I've heard a lot of people say season one was great. Season two, the studio really fell off and it just didn't look very clean't look good, yada, yada, yada right. So I going into it. I expected that to be like my reaction as well. That's not what I see going in man, like episode one, it feels like it's two different studios animating that in episode one.

Speaker 2:

Um, maybe there was.

Speaker 1:

I don't know the background of that bro, I don't know the fire, the cgi in the fire in episode one. I'm like this is the cleanest you guys can do. This. This looks bad. So I'm just gonna be talking crap about you know all kinds of animation and cgi stuff tonight, because that that's just my impression.

Speaker 2:

Tonight is we're just that's your, that's your thing that's that's, that's my rant it got cleaner, though I don't remember it being super ugly art or anything.

Speaker 2:

I just don't remember being bought in on the story, like the fighting was really cool and unique and he fights cool with it, he shoots fire out of his feet and stuff, like it's pretty cool. But I just like the story to me is all. I just it's all over the place. I can't, I can't seem to lock in on it and I just feel like I'm watching it specifically to see cool fire based action. Yeah, which you need more than that man. You need the story you need. I'm just not bought in. Maybe it's just not for me although yeah yeah weren't you saying something about?

Speaker 1:

this is tangentially related, or maybe in the same universe as um. What?

Speaker 2:

does that? Show what uh, so yeah yeah, so it's the same creator and in everything of both. And apparently it does link up to soldier, which I loved, soul eater I mean that was one of my favorite early shows, so I mean it was goofy, it was cool, like it was fun, it was different, yeah it wasn't the best thing.

Speaker 1:

It was, let's face it, it's not the best anime out there, it's not even the best drawn anime out there, but I remember it was, unique though it was. Let's face it, it's not the best anime out there, it's not even the best drawn anime out there, but I remember it was unique, though it was consistently animated.

Speaker 1:

The animation was consistent, it looked decent and there was enough funny points in there to kind of cover up like some of the plot stuff that I was just like, well, that's stupid, you know, but yeah to me, for me, there was enough funny moments in that show. Oh yeah, this is great this is great.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I like Solior, so it doesn't give me that vibe of that at all. So I don't really know. I haven't looked into it to the point where, like, this is how it connects. I didn't even finish the Fire Force manga. I'm just going to finish the show, you know, and they'll connect it that way. So you know, I'll be learning, I guess, more about that. But hopefully the season is better. I don't know for me.

Speaker 1:

So I mean, obviously I said you know I've got issues with the animation. The storytelling was interesting enough that I'll stick with it and I'll watch it. But yeah, I don't know, I wasn't impressed with the early animation. Like some of the scenes are great and then just some of it kind of falls flat, it just doesn't look good and are great and then just some of it kind of falls flat, just doesn't look good and that's, that's fine, whatever.

Speaker 2:

Maybe I'm just super picky about the way fire looks on animation I I don't know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, um well, check it out. The story is decent enough that I'm I'll continue.

Speaker 2:

All right, what?

Speaker 1:

we got next um, so we got a new one and it's called once upon a witch's death, okay, and this is going to be produced by EMT Squared and I had to look it up because I feel like I've seen the name EMT Squared but I don't know. I was like I don't know and I definitely recognize some of the names in their list but like I really don't know much about the studio. But I think with Once Upon a Witch's Death, what I think kind of the most interesting thing here is it's it's setting it up this to this. It looks like it's going to be like one of these emotional rollercoaster kind of things. You know what I mean. That has some like real depth.

Speaker 1:

You know the, the main character. She finds out at the beginning that she's been given one year to live unless she completes X task, you know which. That's pretty standard, Like that's happened before, right, there's people have done stuff like that. That's not fresh, Um, but what is fresh is that I didn't see anything that looked like this is going to be um, I don't know, it just didn't look like. It looked like it was going to take a little bit more serious tones to it. You know what I mean Maybe a little bit like apothecary diaries, um okay like I'm sure there will still be some light-hearted stuff in there.

Speaker 1:

I'm sure it'll be good, but the just from the trailer. The animation looked clean, you know, and again, obviously it's the trailer. They're supposed to be putting forth the best work there, but the animation looked dope in the trailer. The characters, all the female characters, looked well drawn. Um, I don't remember if I even saw a male character in in in the in the trailer, but it looked good man, it looked like. You know they can bring some strong character development. I mean especially, like, if you're focusing on what the, what the main character is going to do with, like her limited time left, right, you can explore a lot there. Like is she going to try to change her fate? Is she going to look for revenge? Like, what is she going to do? You know I don't know enough about this. I know there is light novels, so I'm probably gonna end up getting at least one of the night level light novels to see.

Speaker 1:

We know you will yeah, right, like I got you, um, but yeah, like I think this would be good man, and this looks like this could be one that just you know it's gonna be. It looks like this could be one of the breakout anime. I don't know, that's just my take on it.

Speaker 2:

Well, hey, let's give it a shot and see right. I mean, it was like original stories, so let's do it. Well, I know we talked about trailers tonight, but we have to admit that Devil May Cry trailer was dope, dude, sick, sick. I loved it April 3rd. I loved it april 3rd, loved it coming out. Oh, dude, I was like this, is it so cool thing about it? Um, same anime studio of castlevania, even x-men 97, which is cool, and legend of korra, so they can do action. We're, and devil may cry is action. City man, that whole thing is, yeah, I want cocky one liners, awesome for sure, that has action. And let's get dante, just like, let's blow him up because he's just such a cool character man. He just and you know he does reek of like 90s, 2000s which you heard in the trailer they had oh, they brought the popper road, brought all the bro, limp biscuit and stuff on one of the trailers, like fantastic, this is dude, it's gonna be a vibe, this is gonna be fun.

Speaker 2:

And you know who's voicing them? The guy who does ichigo. Come on, man, this is perfect. Nice, this is gonna be perfect. The shit talking is there. He's gonna be running his mouth, shooting his guns, cutting demons to pieces, like there's just I don't see how in the world this is not going to be a fun show.

Speaker 1:

No, it's going to be, and I will say I've been waiting for this for freaking ever dude. Like the minute they first talked about it I was like oh, hell, yes.

Speaker 2:

Dude, 2018 is when it was announced. By the way, I loved it.

Speaker 1:

That's how long it's been, and here's the thing I loved the initial, you know, run of the.

Speaker 2:

Devil May Cry anime Like dude.

Speaker 1:

it was so lame and it was terrible and it was like terrible storytelling, but I don't know, dude, I loved it. The action was cool, so maybe I guess we've got a thing here for like some seriously stupidly overpowered action scenes Like that might be our thing.

Speaker 2:

When we watch this, it better evoke the action from the game and if it's anything like the trailer, it looks like it is running up buildings jumping, like it better be, you know, jumping and standing on a sword type stuff, like that's how dante is. So I feel like it will.

Speaker 1:

They showed virgil in the trailer, his brother, so we already know, is it like there's gonna be three seconds of the trailer?

Speaker 2:

yeah, oh, man, virgil's a beast. So this is gonna be and they'll drop it all at once. That's what actually. Oh, that would be well I hope. Actually. I don't know, because they did that with castlevania, but they might not their their show sakamoto days right now. Yeah, their anime of that is is weekly. I guess we'll find out. Hopefully it's a binger that's gonna be one.

Speaker 1:

If they don't release it all at the same time, like I honestly think, we're just gonna have to not talk about it for 12 weeks because I'm gonna wait and then I'm gonna do all of it, dude, there's no way I have to watch it the day, yeah, no same.

Speaker 2:

The morning it drops as soon as it comes out.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna watch it and and you're right like um, it's got to evoke the feeling of right, and I think that's what most of us that are hype about this. Is that what? That's what we're hyped for, right like um, that feeling you know that we played the initial games like way back in the way back um, it just put you in the time machine, man, and take you back and, like you, just love that feeling.

Speaker 1:

And that's what I loved about the initial anime as well, you know, because again it's like I said, it's not that the anime was great, because it wasn't um, it just brought back that. You know that just that super chill feeling. You know, just spending your afternoon playing Devil May Cry.

Speaker 2:

Well, I don't know. I loved it and the heavy metal helps right.

Speaker 1:

As your cut demons happen. Yeah, absolutely yeah.

Speaker 2:

We're in for a treat for sure on this.

Speaker 1:

I 100% cannot wait for this Dude. I'm so freaking hyped.

Speaker 2:

I'm not even gonna sleep.

Speaker 1:

He's gonna just gonna watch it the hour it comes out 2 am or whatever. Absolutely 100. I'm gonna be staring at the screen. Just when does this drop play, refresh, refresh refresh.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, absolutely. Well, yeah, we'll be enjoying this one, for sure. What you got another one on the list? Uh, yeah, I think we do.

Speaker 1:

Um, there's one I'm gonna save for last, so I'm gonna kind of skip over that for right now, but I will talk about Black Butler. So, did you watch any of the Black Butler at all, ever?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so I watched, like the original show I mean it's older now, I guess, but I was enjoying it. But I could never just get into it. Man, there's something about it that I liked the Victoria era in the demon, you all that but I just I couldn't finish it, and that's probably a me thing. I think I just fell into other shows, but it is. I always thought it was a cool series.

Speaker 1:

You know, it's very popular so, of all things, my sister was the one that had to tell me to watch black butler how random yeah, no, it's good and I'm like wait you watch anime and she's like no, but I like black butler

Speaker 1:

oh, okay um, that's, but no, I I mean. So this is something about. For me this is going to be a little bit like um, the same vibes when I was talking about wanting miss born to be made into um, just bring in some of the, you know, victorian era england vibes, like mixing a little bit of devil's laying that that part has, but you know, just the background vibes. Right, you got the kind of gothic, uh, architecture stuff. I don't know, I love them.

Speaker 1:

You love that stuff I really do I really do in in literature or anime like I. I love it, I think it looks fantastic. Um, I think that can fix a lot of story stuff. Just bad. Um, I think that kind of environment can fix a lot of other story stuff, but that's not the issue with black Butler. I thought. Black Butler, I think, is fine. So, yeah, now I'm looking forward to this Emerald witch arc and I will watch it and you know we'll talk about it then again, animation looks super dope, super clean, feels like a fresher update to you know what not previously for the show. So, no, I'm ready for it, man, like I'm. I don't have a lot to say on it, um, because it has been a little bit of time since I watched black it's been a while, but I remember liking it right, like that's.

Speaker 1:

people say you remember stuff you don't like more than you do, than what you do like, which is probably true. Like I can't really pick out anything that you know super specific that I loved about that show, um, but but I enjoyed it. It was fun, um, I don't know. Yeah, it's just I think it's going to be super dope and I think it'll probably make some waves because it's black Butler.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's a hugely popular series, for sure. I think more women like it, kind of what you were saying about your sister.

Speaker 1:

I think it's one of those ones dude, we should probably look up the stats on that. Not right now, but I know maybe it is. Maybe it is something like that. It's where it's just a bigger deal with yeah you know, women in general. Um, I don't know, that could be it.

Speaker 2:

I don't care, I think it's good yeah, I thought sebastian was cool, I remember that yeah, the kid, the main kid.

Speaker 1:

I don't know he was okay, but the, but, yeah, the demon, I mean you got a demon butler dude like that, come on, he's a demon butler and he's waiting to eat you yeah yeah, it's pretty cool.

Speaker 2:

It's just a good storyline, yeah, well, I mean, we got the next one here, man. You know we've been talking about this before the my hero academia vigilantes, yeah, finally popping up on april 7th and it is a spin-off of the original my hero academia series, which is uh pretty cool. Um, it does take place I believe it's five years before the original show, which you know. That's kind of cool, and it centers on a 19 year old instead of like a 13 year old, you know, so it's an adult, which is kind of cool. He uh idolizes heroes like all my. You know he does not have a flashy quirk at all. His is actually called sliding glide. And wait, no, that's the name of his power slide and glide yes, sliding that's awesome dude.

Speaker 2:

It's hilarious. So he can slide along surfaces at moderate speeds, that's moderate speeds that's literally how they, how they say it. So he kind of he never passed the hero exam, so you have to be licensed in the my hero world I mean, how are you gonna pass a hero exam with moderate speeds?

Speaker 2:

moderate speeds like come on, yeah. So he kind of gave up on it. Did you know a regular job? And then he kind of just started helping people in his little neighborhood like you know, helping cats out of trees and picking up litter, like just you know silly little things that you're not going to get famous for as a hero. So people would call him like nice guy.

Speaker 2:

Um, he ends up saving a, a girl. She's like a street performer, like a pop star from thugs and, as that's kind of happening, this other vigilante hero called knuckle duster. He's a quirkless vigilante, so he doesn't have a power, which is kind of cool Beats the thugs up, saves them, starts teaching them how to fight and how to master his power. So it's kind of cool because they form this little trio where they kind of go around this small town, like X section of the city in a legal gray area and just protect their community. What's going on in the alleyways is there's a drug called Trigger that's being dealt out to people who are taking the drug. It's enhancing their quirks like a steroid, but it they start losing it and getting violent. So like there's this whole like conspiracy story of like that going on and they're like trying to figure it out and help, without getting kind of caught by the real heroes, because the real heroes are too busy handling big things, they're not worried about small level stuff. So it's it's kind of caught by the real heroes, because the real heroes are too busy handling big things, they're not worried about small level stuff. So it's it's kind of cool man.

Speaker 2:

It's a cool little like side story and it does lead into the larger tale with all for one who's the villain, like? It'll go into some stuff like that and it's produced by the uh, the same studio of my hero, so the art looks the same. We don't have any. Why is the art completely different of the main series? It's, it's the same world, the same art, just street level, instead of, you know, flying through the sky and and launching fireballs and punching buildings down, like the main series can we just so it'll be fun.

Speaker 1:

We go back to this kid that has a bad ass superpower name called Slide and Glide.

Speaker 2:

Slide and Glide, dude, and then it completely falls because it gives him moderate speeds. I don't know Moderate speeds and what's actually really cool about this is that he takes this little quirk that no one cares about and he masters it to the point of he actually becomes pretty awesome with it. He masters it to the point of like, he actually becomes pretty awesome with it, so it's going to be fun to watch. You know a character that go from nothing to you know he always aspired to be a hero, right?

Speaker 1:

So are you still telling me that I need to start MHA before I watch? This, yes, even though it's a prequel, even though it's a prequel.

Speaker 2:

Even though it's a prequel, I would watch it at least five to ten episodes just to see all might and see what all my he's literally like the superman character and the effect that he has on the entire world. Okay, and you'll see it in vigilantes too, because he's he's an all my fanboy. I gotcha, just like the kid deku is in the original series. Yeah for sure. So you got a couple weeks. Well, you got about a month.

Speaker 2:

Actually, get on it yeah, I'll, I'll watch what we got next, or do you want me to take the next one?

Speaker 1:

yeah, take the next one, because I okay, I don't know I feel like this last one that I'm holding on to I don't know, okay, or should we just do it?

Speaker 2:

just hold on to it and it'll be fine. So this next one, it's kind of like the other one you were saying original only lazarus is what it's called. There's no other manga or anything. It's like a straight up series, which is pretty cool. It'll, uh, premiere on april 5th, which is pretty you know, soon, and funny enough, it's coming on adult swims tsunami. But I remember growing up on tsunami. It's going to be coming on that, which is which is pretty dope. It is produced by mappa, so they're the attack on titan and jiu-jitsu kaizen um studios. They're huge 13 episode yep sci-fi action.

Speaker 1:

So maybe some psychopath vibes, maybe that's kind of what I was hoping, maybe that's what I've been hoping for yeah when I saw this read it a little bit about it I was like, okay, uh, I'm you know, because I've been waiting for something to fill that psychopath hole, that's there's not a lot out there that takes that type of uh of you know right path to try to get there.

Speaker 2:

So it takes place in 2052, utopian era. Humanity enjoys peace, there is no sickness whatsoever. There's a miracle drug that was developed. Um, but three years after this drug and everyone's super happy about it the doctor invented it he disappears, okay, okay. So 2055 comes with a chilling revelation there's a fatal flaw. Everyone who took this, this drug, will die within the next three years. Dude, we're in a will smith movie.

Speaker 1:

This is the plot of this is the plot of a will smith movie where everybody turns into vampire zombies.

Speaker 2:

Dude, right. So then what happens is there's a formation of a team, a task force called Lazarus. So there are five agents from around the globe and they're tasked with hunting down this dude and finding this cure slash, vaccine against this drug, and they have 30 days to do it. So it's going to be espionage, high stakes action, science fiction. You know it's going to be espionage, high stakes action, science fiction. You know it's going to be pretty, probably interesting and weirdly, it's playing on the kind of like opioid crisis stuff you know, with like this drug out there and like people took it because oh, it's great, it's a miracle thing.

Speaker 2:

And then there's this terrible like I don't know if you want to call side effect or whatever um, but it's gonna be probably pretty cool side effect bro, I mean I I don't know if, like this dude did it on purpose on like some sort of online vibes, you know like, haha, you're in the game. Now you're stuck right. Maybe it's that, I don't know. Um, but the action scenes were developed by chad stahlowski. I'm gonna say it wrong, but he's the mastermind behind john wick action scenes. So it's probably gonna be dude, visceral choreographed combat. It's probably gonna be like oh, I mean we can hope right like.

Speaker 1:

That's the right.

Speaker 2:

It's the big help yeah, and apparently um is there's some kind of loose connection with the cowboy bebop universe I thought it's the same, so I don't know what I think it is. So we'll see. Maybe there'll be some kind of like hints. I don't know, I'm excited man yeah, I'm, super I'm, I'm excited.

Speaker 1:

And then I will also be excited when I scream out that this is the exact plot of a will smith movie. It does sound like that, doesn't it? No, it did. What's the name of that movie? It, it does sound like it.

Speaker 2:

Are you talking about I Am Legend? Are you talking about I Am Legend? Yes, I Am.

Speaker 1:

Legend. Thank you, this is what that is.

Speaker 2:

This is what that sounds like, but there's no vampires in this one. They stole, I Am.

Speaker 1:

Legend and they made it an anime. Well, it would be a good anime to be honest, like that's what the name is. This is, I am legend.

Speaker 2:

I see it, this is I am legend. I feel like I feel like you just got caught doing something. I think you found out what they're doing.

Speaker 1:

FBI is coming for me now.

Speaker 2:

They're going to knock on your door. What is this last thing you got?

Speaker 1:

man, I'm ready for this dude and like we probably should have just done it earlier.

Speaker 2:

The buildup for this is going to be so lame. Everybody's going like, so they are remastering 20th year anniversary.

Speaker 1:

Remastering yugioh, oh okay, like redrawing it type thing or what it doesn't specifically say redrawn, but I mean you can upscale that it says enhanced visuals.

Speaker 2:

Maybe you don't need to redraw that there.

Speaker 1:

If you throw enough, if you throw enough graphics cards at it, you can upscale the entire the entire series but here's the caveat. You know it was epic. I love that. I love the show. Here is the caveat and the crappy part we are not even sure if we are going to be able to watch this. They've only announced this to be, uh, to be put out in japan right now okay, oh man, come on, that'll be online.

Speaker 2:

You're telling me there's no. I mean, oh yeah, sure you'll be able to find it online somewhere.

Speaker 1:

But I mean again, you know, like that, that's freaking somebody's gonna snack it up, man, come on.

Speaker 2:

They know why. You would think you would hope someone get it. I don't know, so I'm excited for you.

Speaker 1:

Like dude, I was super pumped for this. Um, just because that's like, I loved yugioh and I would love to show my kids Yu-Gi-Oh, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

It was fun, man. Yeah, I loved it. Cabo was my boy.

Speaker 1:

I loved it.

Speaker 2:

It was great With the blue eyes, white dragon. He was also another one that likes to run his mouth. He's a yapper.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, no for sure.

Speaker 2:

Well, hey, dude, that's epic.

Speaker 1:

mad about that, get out of here so should we uh do a hot take?

Speaker 2:

yeah, let's uh let's do it.

Speaker 1:

What do we got? If you could live in any anime world, which would it be? Oh, hold on, keep in mind, you don't get to choose whether you have any kind of special powers. So, keeping that in mind, if you could live in any anime world, which one would it be? All right? So I got one.

Speaker 2:

Hit me Because in the my Hero world, like 95% of people have a quirk. Okay, and they're not all great. I'm laughing because, wait, I will take those odds, brother, I will take the odds because 95% I doubt I'm going to be quirkless. I'm doubt I'm going to be quirkless. I doubt I'm going to be quirkless and hopefully it's not something ridiculous like you can levitate five inches off the ground or slide and glide over something cool.

Speaker 1:

You can turn corners at a moderate speed.

Speaker 2:

Dude, that would be horrible, but you might get a banger.

Speaker 1:

But, honestly, slide and glide would be pretty badass if you're just a normal human. Yeah, going to work right, yeah, okay. So here's why I busted up laughing. And you're gonna love this. And we did not coordinate on this. I threw this question to jordan, like he saw this maybe five minutes before we started recording. We did not discuss this is why I busted up laughing. If I could live in any anime world, the one I would choose would be black clover, because ost is the only one that's born without magic fat. Yes, dude, so I mean, but thinking on the side, some of them have some lame powers that matter.

Speaker 2:

You know what I mean. It doesn't matter, you still have something in the chance, right like because I'm guaranteed.

Speaker 1:

Do you have magic at?

Speaker 2:

I'm guaranteed, dude he was the only one without the only one I didn't even think about that. Yeah, so I just thought that was.

Speaker 1:

We're on the same level we were right there, like that was the same, we're getting power. Yeah, that was yeah, exactly, I'm getting powers. Screw that shit.

Speaker 2:

See I would have thought of black culver, but I haven't watched it in like over a year or two, so I didn't. I didn't think about it.

Speaker 1:

I'm almost that would have been a better one, because yeah, it's literally 99.9 of the everybody besides him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, dude, epic epic.

Speaker 1:

Great answer, bro. All right. So what are we going to be talking about next week? Jordan uh, looks like we have why does?

Speaker 2:

oh, the good old say it for me, buddy, I like how you say isekai. Good, there you go, dominate anime.

Speaker 1:

So this will be interesting yeah, I think we're gonna figure this out. I think that'll be a good topic. We can dive into that and talk about that for a while oh, absolutely, especially because what six out of ten anime?
